As much as Trump tried to blame the Shutdown and lack of SNAP benefits on the Democrats, Trump took ownership of it basically when he pushed to undo them and even fought it in the Courts to stop paying out the benefits. Trump took ownership of the Shut down and exhausted a lot of his political capital in doing so. Look, we're not in favor of these Social Programs, however, when you just rip the cord off and cut people off cold turkey, you risk Civil Unrest. Socialism is a drug that people need to be weened off of and when you just cut people off, they start to loot, riot, and damage property of their own fellow hardworking citizens who already have it hard as it is. The last thing they want to do is fight their Socialist neighbors in the streets.
